Inshore Fishing Charters in Palm Beach on the Intracoastal
Not every angler wants to run offshore and fight rough seas. Some want calm water, steady action and a day the whole family can enjoy. That's what our fishing charter in Palm Beach is built for. We fish inshore, on the Intracoastal and in the Lake Worth Lagoon.
Palm Beach Boat Charters by Yacht Hampton has 14 years of chartering experience as a family-owned company. Every trip boards at Delray Harbor Club Marina and comes with a U.S. Coast Guard-licensed captain. To be clear up front, we don't run offshore fishing trips. If you're after deep-sea fishing, an offshore charter is the better fit.
What Inshore Fishing Means Here
Inshore fishing happens in the protected water between the barrier islands and the mainland. In Palm Beach County, that means the Intracoastal and the Lake Worth Lagoon.
The lagoon is the county's largest estuary, and more than 250 kinds of fish use it, according to Palm Beach County. In a 2019 county fishing challenge on the lagoon, the most-caught fish were gray snapper, lane snapper, common snook and crevalle jack.
Inshore water is usually calmer than the open ocean. That makes it a good choice for kids, first-time anglers and anyone prone to seasickness.
Our Inshore Trips
Our inshore trips are private. Your group has the boat and the captain to yourselves. Your captain picks spots based on the tide and the day's conditions. See full details on our inshore fishing charter page.
Fishing rods and gear are a paid add-on, so you don't need to bring your own. Life jackets come with every trip. It's one of our private boat charters in Palm Beach, with fishing as the focus.
Do You Need a Fishing License on a Charter?
This is a question most fishing pages don't answer clearly.
Florida usually requires a saltwater fishing license. But the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission exempts anglers who fish from a for-hire vessel that holds a valid charter license. If the boat's license doesn't cover you, you'll need your own.
Ask our concierge when you book. They'll tell you whether your group needs individual licenses for your trip.
Mix Fishing With Other Plans
Because it's a private charter, fishing doesn't have to fill the whole day. A few ideas:
- Fish for the first part of the trip, then swim at a sandbar.
- Combine fishing with a half-day boat rental for a shorter outing.
- Add snorkel time. Snorkel gear comes with every charter.
Your concierge will plan the day around what your group enjoys most.
Who Our Inshore Trips Fit
Our inshore trips work well for:
- Families with kids who want to catch their first fish.
- Visitors who want a few hours of fishing during their trip.
- Friends who want fishing and fun on the same day.
- Groups who would rather stay on calm water.
Serious offshore anglers chasing big game fish will want a different kind of charter.
Timing Your Trip
Weather and tides both shape a fishing day. South Florida's wet season runs from mid-May to mid-October, and storms often build in the afternoon. A morning trip is a smart pick in summer.
Your captain will also watch the tide and plan your fishing spots around it.
Fishing Rules to Know
Florida sets size limits, bag limits and closed seasons for many species. Snook, for example, has its own rules and seasons. Your captain will help your group follow the current rules, and some fish may need to go back in the water.
What to Bring
Rods and gear are available as an add-on. Beyond that, bring:
- A hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.
- Light layers for early mornings on the water.
- Water and snacks, unless your concierge is arranging catering.
- A cooler bag if you plan to keep legal fish.
Fishing Charter Pricing
Our private charters range from $690 to $9,999, plus gratuity. Fuel is included. Fishing rods and gear are an add-on. Your price depends on the boat you choose and how long you stay out.
We offer weekday discounts and gift cards. We accept credit cards, debit cards, ACH and wire transfers. We don't accept cash or mobile pay.
