Inshore Fishing Charter in Sag Harbor, Bay Water & Easy Days
Most fishing charters are built for one thing: fish. You leave at dawn, the boat smells like bait, and nobody swims. Our inshore fishing charter is different. You fish the calm bays near Sag Harbor on a comfortable boat, and when the bite slows down, you can swim, float, or head to lunch.
What comes aboard an inshore fishing charter
Fishing can be added to any of our charters. It includes bait, tackle, and up to 4 fishing rods. Your captain shows first-timers how to bait a hook, cast, and reel. That makes this trip a good fit for families and mixed groups.
What you fish for
Inshore means bay water, not open ocean. The bays around Sag Harbor and Shelter Island hold striped bass, fluke, and porgy during the warmer months. The ride is short and the water is calmer than an ocean run, which helps anyone who gets seasick.
Keeping your catch
New York sets size and bag limits for what you keep. Two rules surprise people. Striped bass must be between 28 and 31 inches to keep, and you can keep one per person. If you fish for striped bass with bait, you must use circle hooks. Limits for fluke and other fish change from year to year, so check the current New York DEC rules before your trip.
Do you need a fishing registry?
New York requires anglers age 16 and older to enroll in the free Recreational Marine Fishing Registry. Kids under 16 don't need it. Ask when you book and we'll tell you what applies.
When to go
Our Hamptons charters run 7 days a week from May 1 to October 15. Morning trips leave at 10:00 am and afternoon trips at 2:30 pm. Striped bass season in New York's marine waters runs from April 15 to December 15, so the whole charter season is open for stripers.
Mix fishing with the rest of the day
Because fishing is part of a regular charter, you aren't locked into fishing for 4 hours. Plenty of groups fish for an hour, then swim off the back or float on the lily pad. Trips around Shelter Island are covered by our local fuel rate.
