Every trip leaves from our private marina in Sag Harbor. That matters more than people think. You're not fighting for a spot at a public launch or waiting behind three other boats to fuel up. Your captain is USCG-licensed, and he or she handles the route, the docking, the safety talk - you just show up and get on the water.
So what happens during those hours? Depends on what you're after. Some folks want a slow cruise past Shelter Island with drinks and music. Others want to anchor somewhere quiet off Sag Harbor and swim, sunbathe, let the kids jump off the swim platform. We've had couples use the half day for a sunset run, and we've had small groups turn it into a floating happy hour.

A small group heading out for a quiet half day on the water off Sag Harbor does great on something in the 30-40 foot range. Enough deck space to move around, enough shade to escape the sun, not so big it feels empty. Bigger groups need more than just square footage, though. They need bathrooms that don't create a line, and a captain who knows how to keep everyone comfortable for the full three or four hours.
For larger parties, we bump up toward the top of our range near 62 feet. That's usually where a Hamptons bachelorette party or a milestone birthday group lands. More room to spread out, a proper spot for catering, and enough deck for photos that don't look cramped.

When a Half Day Charter Isn't the Right Choice
Let's be honest with you. A half day charter isn't right for every trip out on the water. If you're planning a wedding boat charter with a ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner service, three or four hours goes by fast. You'll want a full day charter or, for a really big group, the 122' Hamptons Event Yacht, which holds up to 85 guests for weddings and corporate events on the water.
Same goes for a corporate event on the water with multiple speakers, a sit-down meal, and networking time built in. Squeezing that into a half day usually means cutting something you wanted. We'd rather tell you that upfront than watch you rush through your own event.
Thinking about an overnight trip to somewhere like Shelter Island or Montauk? A half day charter won't get you there and back with any real time to enjoy it. That's what our overnight charter option is built for.

Most half day charters leave from our private marina, right off Long Wharf in the heart of Sag Harbor village. That's the spot where the harbor narrows and the foot traffic from Main Street spills onto the docks all summer long. We ask guests to arrive fifteen minutes early. Simple as that.
Here's what happens when you show up. You'll find our team waiting dockside, not a lockbox or a keypad. A real person walks you down to the boat, gets your names checked off, and introduces you to your USCG-licensed captain before anyone steps aboard. That's the whole point of booking with a concierge team instead of an app - you get a face, not a code.
Parking near Long Wharf fills up fast on weekends, especially with the farmers market and the windmill green drawing crowds through midday. So we'll send you exact directions to our marina lot ahead of time, no guessing where to leave the car. And if you're coming from East Hampton or Bridgehampton, we'll factor drive time into your check-in window so you're not rushing.
