How to Throw the Ultimate Hamptons Bachelor Party on the Water

Planning a bachelor party in the Hamptons? Here are tips and tricks to making it the best weekend possible—including everything to know about booking a boat trip that’s sure to be the highlight of your weekend.

The crew at Yacht Hampton are experts in planning a Hamptons bachelor party. When you charter a boat with us, we can book your whole weekend — leveraging our 10-year owner-to-owner relationships with hotels, bars, and restaurants to get you discounted prices and coveted reservations, so all you have to do is enjoy the party.

But before you can party, first things first.

When to visit: The best months to book your Hamptons bachelor party.

When it comes to getting your bachelor weekend on the calendar, the best dates to head out east fall anywhere between May 1st and October 31st. Early Autumn can offer some fun activities — from winery tours to a boat ride to Greenport — but the winter is best avoided completely.

For an ideal bachelor party experience, you’ll want to come in the late Spring or Summer. Summer in the Hamptons is all about the sun, sand, and water.

Where to stay: The best hotels for bachelor parties.

The Hamptons consists of roughly 20 different villages, and it can be overwhelming choosing the right destination for your trip. The general rule of thumb? Anywhere from Hampton Bays to Montauk is a weekend party sweet spot. Here are some options for the best places to stay during your bachelor weekend:

  • Baron's Cove. Located in the historic village of Sag Harbor, this upscale waterfront resort sits right on the bay. Your party will be in the middle of the action and close to your boat! Give the hotel a call at (844) 227-6672 to learn more about booking a stay for your bachelor, and check out the Sag Harbor Inn for another local option (631) 725-2949.
  • Sunset Beach. Situated on Shelter Island, Sunset Beach is a boutique hotel with water-view rooms. It’s home to a hotspot bar and restaurant loved by visitors and locals alike. Lively and festive all night long, it's the perfect party weekend destination for your bachelor. Contact the hotel at (631) 749-2001, and explore the Ram’s Head Inn (631) 749-0811 and Pridwin Hotel (844) 200-5001 for two more great Shelter Island-based spots.
  • Topping Rose House. This full-service luxury hotel is situated in Bridgehampton, a Hamptons hub for shopping and dining. Topping Rose has a historic, cottage-inspired feel and is home to an elegant Jean-Georges restaurant. If you want an elevated Hamptons bachelor party experience and price is no option, give them a call at (631) 808-2000.
  • Gurney’s Montauk. Gurney’s is located in Montauk, the easternmost village of the Hamptons commonly referred to as “The End.” Gurney’s sits right on the beach, and offers a spa, multiple restaurants, and an upscale beach club ideal for an unforgettable bachelor beach day. Contact Gurney’s at (631) 668-2345 to inquire about your bachelor stay, and check out the Montauk Yacht Club for an additional Montauk-based option (631) 668-3100.
  • Airbnb or VRBO. Of course, you can always opt to rent a house rather than stay at a hotel for your bachelor party. This may be a more budget-friendly option on a busy Hamptons party weekend, and it can also work well if you’re planning to accommodate a larger group of friends for your bachelor trip. Just remember to look at the reviews and ensure the host is comfortable with hosting bachelor parties in their space.

What to do during your bachelor party stay: Beaches, nightlife, and other tips.

Once you’ve got your bachelor party travel dates set and your hotel booked (or your house rented), it’s time to fill your itinerary. Here are a few party planning essentials for a fun-filled stay.

  • Explore the beaches. No Hamptons stay is complete without one (or two) good beach days. Depending on where you stay, there will likely be multiple local beaches and bays to choose from. The good news? You can’t go wrong. Most beaches have public bathrooms available, and some have food trucks and snack shacks. We recommend packing a cooler with snacks and drinks to avoid the lines.
  • Hit the bars. The Hamptons has a thriving nightlife scene, and no bachelor party is complete without a night on the town. Head over to The Surf Lodge for a beachy vibe and possible celeb sighting, but remember to book ahead and arrive early to minimize your time in line. Southampton Social Club offers a full-service night club experience, complete with live music and a DJ. For a more elevated bachelor night out, try Calissa for fresh Greek cuisine and craft cocktails.
  • Spend a day on the water. The pinnacle of any Hamptons bachelor party is a boat ride on the water. Whether you opt for a sporty day trip or a chill sunset cruise, it’s sure to be the highlight of your stay. Cruise over to Sunset Beach on Shelter Island’s picturesque Crescent Beach, or dance and mingle on the wharf at Claudio’s (day or night). Regardless of the excursions you're planning, these will be some of your best bachelor party memories.

Pro-tips for booking your Yacht Hampton Charter.

Yacht Hampton offers $200 off for any bachelor parties purchased in March or April, (for the summer). Our Hamptons bachelor party season starts May 1st and runs until October 31st. Though we own 17 boats and generally have some slots available, the best boats book first. If your boat bash is on a Saturday, please note we sell out every Saturday in the summer. We recommend planning and booking your bachelor party charter as early as possible so you are not stuck on the dock during your special weekend!

It’s best to book your charter on any day between Monday and Friday. Monday through Thursday you’ll enjoy $300 off your trip, and Fridays you’ll enjoy $200 off your trip — even for our special Friday Happy Hour Sunset Cruise.

On the weekends, we advise booking a Saturday morning to avoid choppy late-afternoon waters and overcrowded coves.

In addition to bachelor parties, Yacht Hampton hosts tons of bachelorette parties. If you’d like to meet up with a bachelorette group on their own charter, you can enjoy a fun-filled party in a cove. Chat it up, dance on the boat, have a blast with our water toys and activities, or other party ideas you may have.

Choose the best boat for your bachelor cruise.

Picking the best boat for your 4-hour cruise comes down to two factors: budget and guy count.

  • 36’ Aquilla. This chic 13-person boat features a luxurious double lounger in the front and ample seating in the center and rear for your bachelor party. The walk-through design offers plenty of spots to lay out, and a table to gather around for party games.

  • Event Cat 50. Designed for parties of 14 or more, “Jubilance” is a brand new, premium event boat arriving June 2023. Be amongst the first to party on board this vessel, and enjoy your very own dance floor on the ocean.

Add-on fishing, water toys, and water sports for the ultimate bachelor party experience.

From fishing to electric surfboarding, there are plenty of activities for you and your boys to enjoy on the boat while you party. Pick whatever watersports your bachelor party enjoys most, or try out a little bit of everything. Here’s what we offer—so go ahead and choose your adventure:
